A CHANCE FOR PEACE IS BACK!
Originally started in the spring of 2008 as a response to Kenya’s post-election violence, the A Chance for Peace non-profit documentary film project took a seriously blow following its summer 2009 production.
About two weeks after I (director and producer Tyler Batson) returned to the States the loft space I was living and working in caught fire and burnt down. Blessed to have my health and most of my material possessions intact, I was nevertheless displaced and without a home.
The past year since that pivotal night, I have come to empathize with the subjects - now my friends - I profiled in Kenya (along with filmmaker Frank Kraljic). They too knew what it was like to suddenly be without shelter and displaced from their loved ones.
True, my circumstances were quite different, but I believe that everything happens for a reason and the reason for my absence from this project for the past year is clear: I had to truly appreciate what it means to struggle to fully and truly represent the strength of the Kenyan spirit.
So let’s all get out there a create A Chance for Peace!
A thousand thank yous for all your support!
